Welcome to Niagara's newest café

Hungry Town of Niagara residents have a new option when it comes to finding an affordable local restaurant for breakfast or lunch, thanks to Shannon Briggs' Toast & Roast Café.

The café, located at 4823 Saunders Settlement Road, specializes in breakfast foods, including waffles, pancakes and omelets. The lunch menu includes subs, wraps and steak fries. Specials every day make for a great opportunity to try something new.

However, Briggs said the café is really known for its homemade soups and courteous service.

"With the help of family and friends, we are striving to build a strong relationship with our patrons," she said.

Briggs first opened the café in February. She said her intent was to make something "small, quaint and casual," and the town seemed like a good fit for a diner-type establishment.

"I thought there was great potential, especially in this area," Briggs said. "I thought it was a great opportunity."

Her instincts turned out to be right, apparently, as she said things have been going well for the fledgling business.

"We're doing absolutely wonderful and I love the area and the community," Briggs said. "I'm looking forward to a busy summer."

The Toast & Roast Café is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week. Takeout is available if you call ahead of time at 716-297-4172. Visit the café's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/toastandroastcafe to see each day's menu and specials and for more information.
