Prostate cancer screening June 15-20 at Mount St. Mary's

In celebration of Father's Day and National Men's Health Month, the board of associates of Mount St. Mary's Hospital is sponsoring the 13th annual "A Father's Day Gift of Love and Life" - a free prostate cancer screening from June 15-20.

The PSA screening will take place from noon until 5 p.m. Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 19, and from 7 a.m. until noon Saturday, June 20, in the outpatient center in the north lobby of the hospital at 5300 Military Road, Lewiston. The outpatient center can be conveniently reached through the north entrance driveway off Military Road.

"This is a great opportunity for men to have a screening that can make a difference in their lives," said Richard Faiola, vice president of Shipman Print Solutions. "The PSA blood test is simple and it often indicates a potential problem before any symptoms appear. We are proud to be able to sponsor this program and hope that everyone will encourage their loved ones to participate in 'A Father's Day Gift of Love and Life.' "

Last year, more than 300 men were screened. Screening is recommended for men over the age of 50, or earlier for those with a family history of prostate cancer.

Pre-registration for the free screening in not necessary. This is not a fasting test. Results will be forwarded to one's personal physician.

Free gift certificates are available for presentation to loved ones by calling 716-298-2145. Gift certificates are not required to have a screening.
