Lewiston artist and art educator Thomas Paul Asklar is going to offer summer painting workshop parties for adults in the Lewiston Peace Garden on Thursdays this summer. Asklar will lead the group in painting - no prior experience is necessary.

Each week will have a different theme. Topics include:

  • June 11: Monet's water lilies
  • June 18: Japanese cherry blossoms
  • June 25: Layered landscapes with birch trees
  • July 2: Sweet summer sunset
  • July 9: Lower Niagara River
  • July 16: The mighty Niagara

How it works: You bring your own refreshments, the Lewiston Council on the Arts will supply canvases, easels, paints, brushes, recyclable cups, napkins, plates and plastic ware.

What makes this painting party so special? Location! Location! Location! Enjoy a few relaxing hours with one of Western New York's most well-known artists helping you to create your very own masterpiece.

Each event begins at 6 p.m. and costs $45. The Lewiston Peace Garden is located at 476 Center St.

Those who need to change or cancel a reservation are asked to do so 24 hours before the scheduled class to obtain a full refund or credit. No-shows and/or cancellations within 24 hours of scheduled classes are not entitled to refunds or credits - no exceptions.

Asklar also is available for painting parties and private art lessons for all ages upon request. Call 716-531-2668 to schedule a time.
