Do you have an ongoing health condition? If you have a chronic illness such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, arthritis or chronic anxiety, join the Niagara County Department of Health for a free chronic disease self-management workshop series. The event begins at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at the Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport. The sessions will run for six consecutive Thursdays.

This is a program with proven health benefits for individuals with any type of ongoing health condition, and complements the health care one may already be receiving. The purpose of the workshop is to provide simple steps that help people better manage their health symptoms, to promote an active and fulfilling lifestyle so one will feel better. Program instructors encourage caregivers to attend, as well, as the program provides opportunities for caregivers to share and support one another.

The workshop is sponsored by the Niagara County Office for the Aging and the Niagara County Department of Health. To register, contact NY Connects through the Office for the Aging at 716-438-3030 or call the Niagara County Department of Health at 716-278-1900.

To schedule a workshop, call the nursing division at 716-278-1900.
