The Lewiston/Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club celebrated its 77th anniversary on April 20.

The club was founded in 1938 and is comprised of members from both Canada and the U.S. It stands out as one of the few binational Rotary Clubs in the world. The binational nature of the club epitomizes Rotary's international fellowship of work, directly on the local club level.

On April 22, columnist Ken Hamilton visited with Rotary members and discussed the Veterans Memorial at Hyde Park. Dino McDonnell, assistant superintendent of Parks for the Niagara Parks Commission, offered insight on the problems facing local trees by the Emerald Ash Borer insect infestation on both sides of the border.

Rotary announced its 33rd annual Garden Party and Theatre event will feature the production "Pygmalion" Sunday, June 21, at the Shaw Festival Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. For more information, including tickets, call Ron Danielewicz at 716-870-1307 or email [email protected].

Lewiston/Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club dinner meetings are held every Wednesday, with meetings split between locations in the U.S. and Canada. Speakers from both nations provide lively and thought-provoking programs. New members are always welcome.
