The Town of Niagara held a board meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall on Lockport Road.

Following the public hearing and the privilege of the floor, the board continued on with the agenda, where there was discussion and resolutions on various items in the community, varying from approving the purchases of pumps, which will upgrade the Isherwood Drive Lift Station, to approving the spending of $207,100 in highway funds on the 2015 road paving plan.

The board approved Local Law 1-2015, a law amending the Town of Niagara Zoning Map, 2600 Young St.

Also discussed at the meeting was approval to renew special use permits, which are valid for a year, on specified automotive dealerships, some of which were David Chevrolet Buick Inc., Budget Rent A Car, Halleens' Wholesale Inc., and Jetport Inc. New and Used Auto Sales.

The board continued in the meeting to approve the 18th annual Kidz and Kites event, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, with a rain day of Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Town Park. Supervisor Lee Wallace took a moment to recognize that Kidz and Kites has been held at the park the last three years and what a fun and engaging event it was for children.

After the agenda items were discussed, Councilman Charles Teixeira gave acknowledgment to Wallace in all of his efforts at resolving important topics in this community.

"I want to say our supervisor is juggling a lot of different things very well and keeping us all abreast of what's going on, and I think we are all starting to move forward in the right direction on some of these bigger projects," Teixeira said.
