Lewiston-Porter second-grader Analyse Gibas is currently battling diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a rare form of brain cancer, and her family is seeking your help.

A large tumor is located on the stem of the 7-year-old's brain and has been found to be inoperable. The prognosis for recovery is very poor, but her family is hoping and praying for a miracle.

Analyse is currently undergoing care at Women and Children's Hospital and is receiving radiation therapy through the Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Institute in Buffalo. Her parents are looking into different hospitals and clinics that specialize in the treatment of DIPG in the U.S. They will have to take time off of work to be with Analyse.

Medical bills are mounting, and any help for her family in these tough times is much needed and greatly appreciated. An online fundraiser link has been established with a goal of $125,000 sought. As of April 10, a total of $11,790 has been raised and the family continues to appeal for help. Visit www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/help-analyse-gibas-battle-dipg for more information.

"As Ana's grandma, I am sincerely touched by all the best wishes, prayers and donations made by so many wonderful people," said Candra Thomason, who, along with Joseph Swartz, organized Analyse's fundraiser link. "DIPG is the meanest cancer out there. It is been said that if they could cure this cancer they can cure all cancers. But our little Analyse is strong and, through your donations and prayers, I have faith she will win this battle. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. And I know her parents thank you from the bottom of theirs."

In Lewiston, Lower Niagara Moose Lodge 584 will hold a steak dinner benefit for Analyse from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the lodge, 112 S. Water St., in the village. The dinner will feature a strip-steak with baked potato, vegetables and salad for a cost of $10. A $2 shrimp cocktail appetizer also is being offered. The Dave Stayner band is donating music for the evening.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Analyse Gibas Fund.
