Russell J. Salvatore, one of the Buffalo-Niagara Region's top philanthropists, is making sure families in need have a ham dinner Easter Sunday. He is working with the Food Bank of Western New York and selected member agencies to identify families to receive hams, which will be collected and distributed as part of "Ham-a-Lot 2015."
Hams can be donated between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in the parking lot of Russell's Steaks Chops & More and Salvatore's Grand Hotel, 6675 Transit Road, Williamsville. Salvatore will match every ham or cash equivalent donated Tuesday. Will Foods will then deliver all of the hams to the selected member agencies of the Food Bank Wednesday, in plenty of time for Easter.
Salvatore and friends have provided prizes that will be distributed each hour from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. For every donation of a ham or cash, one will receive an entry blank to win. Four people will be selected each hour to receive a grand Jacuzzi and dinner package from Russell's or a $100 gift card to Dash's Markets or a box of chocolates from Sweet Jenny's or four Buffalo Bisons baseball tickets.
