Citybration invited everyone to "Take Another Look" at Buffalo from the best vantage point in the city - the top of City Hall - on Thanksgiving weekend. A freak storm had paralyzed parts of the city, causing hardship to many in the community.

"Take Another Look," sponsored by the Buffalo Common Council, challenged attendees to not only see with their own eyes evidence of the city's resurgence, but also to contribute nonperishable foods at the event. Several Food Bank of WNY bins were filled that evening by attendees, helping replenish dwindling food supplies in the agency's pantries.

Citybration is now donating proceeds from "Take Another Look" to the Food Bank of WNY to continue to support the Food Bank's ongoing efforts to feed the hungry in the community.

The number of senior citizens utilizing Food Bank of WNY agencies each month has increased an alarming 53 percent from last year, and the number of families requiring supplemental foods has increased by 14 percent. Much of this increase is thought to be due to cuts in the federal SNAP (food stamps) program.

"Buffalo is a great place to live, because we care about our neighbors and we rise to community challenges," Citybration's Marti Gorman said. "Citybration supports organizations like the Food Bank of WNY by promoting their fundraising events, collaborating on projects that benefit the community, and engaging area residents in the community."

Gorman said Buffalo Citybration uses a weekly e-newsletter to reach more than 8,000 subscribers with timely links to the events and attractions that make Buffalo a great place to live.

The next "Take Another Look" event will take place Saturday, Nov. 28. It will once again benefit the Food Bank of WNY during the season of giving.
