Obit: Marjorie M. McGarvey

Marjorie M. McGarvey passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at St. Joseph's of the Pines Health Center, Southern Pines, North Carolina. She was a resident there for six years. Her family sincerely thanks the staff of St. Joseph's of the Pines Health Center and Dr. Robert Deucher for their compassionate care. 

Marjorie was the only child of Countess and Clarence Miller. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, (Mac) Jarvis M. McGarvey.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Fred Berry, of Pinehurst, North Carolina; a grandson, Tom Berry, and his wife, Jessica Berry, of Greenville, North Carolina; a son, James McGarvey; grandsons Shaun and Michael McGarvey; great-granddaughter Morgan McGarvey; and great-grandson Phillip McGarvey of Youngstown.

Marjorie was born in Niagara Falls, where she married Mac after graduating from high school. They lived in Niagara Falls and Grand Island for more than 30 years. They then retired to Punta Gorda, Florida, for 17 years. They moved to Pinehurst in 2004.

Marjorie always will be in our hearts and forever missed by our family and friends. She was a beautiful, loving, sweet and caring mom, grandma and great-grandma.

A memorial service was held today at St. Joseph of the Pines Chapel in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be given to the Alzheimer's Association in Marjorie's memory.
