The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Lewiston Music as the recipient of the Lewiston Business of the Year Award. The Lewiston Advisory Committee, comprised of Lewiston businesses and organizations, assisted the chamber in providing a business honoree. The vote from member nominations reflects the dedication and service of the honoree to the Lewiston community.

Lewiston Music serves the entire Niagara River Region and beyond as a professional music store, offering everything from instrument and equipment sales to rentals, repairs and lessons.

Anthony Petrocelli has been the owner of Lewiston Music since 2006. After graduating from Ithaca College and pursuing a job in pharmaceutical sales, he settled in Western New York. Music has always been a big part of Petrocelli's life. He is a guitarist, singer, and plays the trumpet. It was a normal evening of sitting in a band rehearsal talking about dream jobs when the guitar player from the band mentioned a business opportunity in Lewiston. Tony pursued the lead and purchased Lewiston music (consisting of four guitars, a drum set, keyboard to instruct lessons on and eight students) from Sam Mirabella. Petrocelli became the new owner of Lewiston Music.

Lewiston Music has settled into its new location at 791 Center St., and is open Monday through Saturday. Hours are Monday to Thursday, noon to 7 p.m.; Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Moving from two previous locations, the new store has more retail space, ample parking and provides seven lesson/practice rooms for private music lessons. Within the first few weeks of moving in November 2014, it became obvious that the move was the right decision to grow the business. The new open space provides more room for the inventory to be displayed; it features walls of mounted acoustic and electric guitars/bass, accessories, speakers, lights, rental instruments, percussion items, music books, keyboards and vinyl records. Just about anything music related is available at Lewiston Music.

Petrocelli has been able to grow the customer base since 2006, offering more instrument rental and repair services and private lessons. With 12 private lesson instructors, instruction is offered in guitar/bass, strings, percussion, woodwinds, voice and keyboard. Lessons are offered five days a week on a monthly basis. Many of the instructors can be seen around the area professionally working and performing.

Providing the best customer service possible has given Lewiston Music a great customer base. Petrocelli has learned what customers are looking for and what items appeal to musicians in this area. He has sought out unique items for customers ranging from Kent Drum sets to old Moog Synthesizers.

Working with customers, providing the best experience to further their music passion is what drives Petrocelli to offer the best service he can. While he does sell some items online, most of his business is focused on in-person sales and services he can provide in house.

Lewiston Music has had some famous customers over the years as well, taking advantage of quality items and great prices. Some of Petrocelli's famous customers include The Flaming Lips, Cake, Chris Isaak, Pat Symmonds from the Doobie Brothers and Cheryl Crow's Band.

Having a business in Lewiston has been a great experience for Petrocelli. There is a great level of trust and respect that comes from working in a small community that he enjoys. Making customers feel comfortable and getting to know them while following their music endeavors is a great feeling for him.

Petrocelli has been involved in many community organizations, lending equipment, performing or donating items to lend support. Lewiston Music has supported Lew-Port football, cheerleading, music band boosters, the Lewiston Council on the Arts, the Lewiston Garden Club, Lewiston Senior Center and Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue, to name just a few.

Petrocelli is an active board of directors member of the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce and also serves on the Lewiston Advisory Board. You can find him performing all over Western New York as lead singer/guitarists in the band Clyde. His next endeavor will be marrying his fiancé Jess in August. There's no doubt the ceremony and reception will be full of great music.

The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, along with the Lewiston Advisory Committee, proudly congratulates Lewiston Music as the 2015 Lewiston Business of the Year.
