Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 was dispatched Feb. 7 on a report of a possible fire inside the wall of a residence on North Seventh Street (pictured). Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the roof of the residence. Crews immediately made entry to the house as well as to the roof and quickly stopped the fire from spreading further into the residence.
Crews from Upper Mountain Fire Co. and a FAST team from Sanborn Fire Co. assisted Lewiston No. 1. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Lewiston Fire Co. No 1 is professionally staffed with 100 percent volunteers. The company stands stand ready to respond to fire and EMS emergencies in the Village and Town of Lewiston.
