The Niagara Falls Family YMCA recently received an award at the Y's Buffalo Niagara campaign kickoff dinner.

YMCA Buffalo Niagara officially kicked off its 2015 annual campaign in January. This year's goal for the association is $707,000.

Every day, YMCA Buffalo Niagara works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues such as school readiness, at-risk youth, chronic diseases and quality of life for seniors. The Y's annual campaign ensures that everyone in Western New York has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Awards were presented at the kickoff event, which took place Jan. 21, at the Foundry.

The Donald H. Meyncke Award went to the Niagara Falls Family YMCA for achieving the highest percentage to its 2015 fund raising goal so far at 68.5 percent.

Last year, YMCA Buffalo Niagara raised over $677,000 and gave out over $1 million in financial assistance thanks to the campaign. This equates to over 21,000 people being served.
