Lewiston Council on the Arts (www.artcouncil.org) and Just Buffalo Literary Center (www.justbuffalo.org) will present the second season of the Lewiston Arts Café. Hosted by Perry Nicholas and Maria Sebastian, Arts Café is a series of programs that features some of the finest poets and musicians in Western New York.

Poet Lisa Wiley and musician Alan Whitney will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the historic Lewiston Opera Hall, 732 Center St.

Wiley teaches English at Erie Community College. She is co-host of the Just Buffalo Literary Café, author of "Chamber Music" and the forthcoming "My Daughter Wears Her Evil Eye to School." Her poetry has appeared in Rockhurst Review and Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine among others.

Singer/songwriter Whitney mixes rock 'n' roll, country, folk, R&B and a sharp sense of song to make his own brand of American music. His songs are tender, fun, poignant, exuberant, sensual and sometimes weird. His sweet, soaring voice is all at once innocent and streetwise. He has opened for artists Janis Ian, Alison Krauss, Roger McGuinn of the Byrds and many more.

Arts Café serves up an evening of entertainment and intellectual stimulation in an intimate 1960s coffee house atmosphere. The cost of admission is $2 for the general public, free for LCA and JBLC members.

Future presentations include:

  • April 14: poetry: Lynn Ciesielski; music: Zak Ward
  • June 9: poetry: Randy Rumley; music: Davey O
  • Sept. 8: poetry: Livio Farallo; music: Darryl Tonemah

Supermarket Liquors and Wines and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Sacarissa Bell Rose Lodge sponsor this program.
