Although it was all adults in attendance at the Youngstown Village Board meeting Thursday, the subject of discussion may have appealed to children, too.

Nick Conde, owner of "Bounce-N-Around" in Lewiston, approached the board about holding bounce house parties, typically for ages 3-9, in the Youngstown Red Brick Building on weekends.

Since 2002, Conde has had success with his business at the Red Brick Municipal Building in Lewiston.

Upon confirmation of the appropriate insurance coverage and various legalities, it was apparent to the board the entrepreneur's involvement in Youngstown could be very beneficial to the community, by offering yet another way to utilize the gymnasium.

Conde has provided his bounce houses at the Youngstown Street Dance in the past and was willing to donate them for village events in the future.

The board approved Conde's request, contingent on working around Youngstown Recreation events in the same manor in which he currently schedules around the Lewiston Red Brick schedule.

Dates of some of the village's upcoming 2015 activities were revealed at the meeting. The St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held March 14, the Community Picnic will be held Aug. 8, and Christmas in the Village Dec. 12.

The "Celebrity Bartending" fundraiser to benefit the Lewiston Recreation Department and the Nancy Price Scholarship will be held April 11 at the Lewiston Event Center. More details will be published when made available.

In the Lewiston-Porter School District, all of the individual schools and grade levels are fundraising to donate money to the village to help repair the Veterans Memorial that was vandalized Jan. 2. The Village of Youngstown opened a separate fund to try and assist in fixing $6,670 worth of damages. Officials are offering a reward of up to $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) involved.

Donations are graciously accepted. Checks should be made out to the Village of Youngstown with the "Veteran's Memorial" noted in the memo.

The public continued to ask questions about the 32-unit apartment complex replacing the Cold Storage facility on Nancy Price Drive. An engineer presented environmental information about the proposed building. He confirmed the results would have little to no impact on 11 different environmental categories.

As long as the Planning Board's conditions and New York state codes are upheld, the Village Board agreed to accept the Cold Storage preliminary site plan.

The next Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in the Village Hall. An additional meeting Feb. 10 (also at 7 p.m.) will take place to specifically focus on any drainage issues residents are having in the village.
