Amy Lewis, executive director of the Niagara County SPCA, announced the hiring of Polla Milligan as director of development. For the past nine years, Milligan has been the grant writer and development coordinator at the Food Bank of Western New York in Buffalo.

Milligan attended the University at Buffalo, majoring in English literature. She also has two associate's degrees, one in community mental health and one in travel and tourism. She also received a credential from Canisius College after successfully completing the Fundamentals of Fundraising course. Milligan founded and has overseen the Facebook page WNY Lost & Found Pets for over two years. She also served on the Niagara County SPCA board of directors for a short time.

Lewis said, "We are happy that Polla Milligan is once again joining the Niagara County SPCA's dedicated team. We have accomplished so much in the last few years, and with Polla's passion for animal welfare and expertise in the area of fundraising, the shelter's future looks brighter than ever."

In her new position, some of the tasks Milligan will be responsible for include outreach to potential new funders, grant writing, direct mail, newsletter generation, networking with other animal rescue organizations and cultivation of current donors.

She lives in Cheektowaga with three rescued dogs and two rescued parakeets.
