The Buffalo Sabres announced the team recalled forward Joel Armia from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
Armia (age 21, 6'3", 201 lbs.) joins the Sabres for his first career recall since he signed an entry-level NHL contract with the organization in June 2012. The Pori, Finland, native currently has 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists) in 21 games for the Amerks.
Drafted by the Sabres in the first round (16th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Armia finished second among Amerks rookie skaters with 27 points (7/20) in 54 games last season. He also led Rochester with six points (3/3) in five games during the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
