An entertaining blend of dramas and comedies

From Jan. 23 through Jan. 31, NU Theatre's annual Short Play Festival will make for a fascinating dose of theater - and a great entertainment bargain. Three cycles of 10-minute plays written by various playwrights will be presented over two weekends.

Comedies, dramas and everything in between, the debut of 19 student directors produces a smorgasbord of professionally published plays. If one production is not to your taste, you only have to wait 10 minutes before the next one. (With some plays, adult situations and language may be an appropriate warning to anticipate.)

The Short Play Festival will be on stage in the Leary Theatre, within the Elizabeth Ann Clune Center for Theatre, Clet Hall, at 7:30 p.m. Producing director of the Short Play Festival is Doug Zschiegner, associate professor and associate director of Niagara University Theatre. Production manager is theatre studies design/technology alumnus Jayson Clark.

Student directors of the productions include: Bre Aldinger, Arianne Davidow, Matthew J. DiVita, Elena Victoria Feliz, Karen Harty, Brett Klaczyk, Anna Krempholtz, Ian Francis LaLonde, Marina Laurendi, Kathleen Macari, Jean O'Harrow, Joshua Ranallo, Colin Reboy, Ellynn Riddell, Toni Shinkel, William Tschaepe, Alexander Utz, Bradeen Walders and Jessica Yagoda. The students hail from New York and Arizona.
