The first Wheatfield Lions Club Chili and Basket Festival had a successful beginning. The festival was held in the memory of Louis Filicetti and Ted Stanzalewski.
The public who attended enjoyed good chili prepared by Wheatfield "Chili King" Lion Walt Garrow. Every attendee had the opportunity to sample a free dish of the chili before deciding whether to purchase.
The baskets featured a "Mega" basket filled with more than $100 worth of nonperishable food and other products. It was a very popular separate raffle item, according to basket chairperson Debbie Carr.
The Town of Wheatfield Lions Club is going to build on what members have learned on the first Chili and Basket Festival. The club is looking to a bigger and better Chili and Basket Festival in 2015.
