International tournament highlights a busy holiday weekend schedule

Elite international sled hockey makes its first appearance on The Rinks at HARBORCENTER this weekend, as the Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey Organization hosts Team Ontario, the Elmvale Bears (Coldwater, Ontario) and Team Yurga (Moscow) in a battle for the HARBORCENTER Cup.

"We're excited to welcome some of the world's best sled hockey players to the first of our HARBORCENTER Cup tournaments in this discipline," said Nik Fattey, HARBORCENTER's vice president and director of hockey. "As we look forward to hosting the World Sled Hockey Championship beginning April 25, this tournament provides us with a preview of the top level of sled hockey play. We look forward to being a top destination for world-class sled hockey competition in the years ahead."

Local players Adam Page and Paul Schaus will be joined by fellow Team USA paralympian Danny McCoy in leading a Sabres team that also includes past paralympians Brad Emerson, Chris Manns and Mike Blabac. They will compete against players currently on the national rosters of Team Canada and Team Russia: Team Ontario (Anthony Gale, Karl Ludwig, Tyler McGregor), Elmvale Bears (Graeme Murray, Brad Bowden, Adam Dixon) and Team Yurga (Konstantin Shikhov, Nikolay Terentev, Vladimir Litvinenko).
