Assemblyman John Ceretto has announced Independent Health is expanding Child Health Plus coverage into Niagara County.

"Child Health Plus is a great opportunity to ensure that all children have health coverage," Ceretto said. "I am extremely glad that Independent Health is now a provider in Niagara County. The hardworking families of our region deserve to have a low-cost health insurance plan for their children, and I encourage anyone interested to see if they are eligible."

Child Health Plus is a state-sponsored health insurance program for children who are residents of New York, under the age of 19, have limited or no health insurance, and are not eligible for Medicaid. Most children in New York are eligible for coverage under Child Health Plus.

Independent Health currently covers an estimated 1,900 children through Child Health Plus in Erie County. The expansion into Niagara County will allow more children currently without medical insurance to receive coverage.
