Get your web-shooters ready: The sequel to the successful reboot of the Spider-Man trilogy "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is set to hit theaters Friday, May 2.

The original "Spider-Man" movie, which was released May 3, 2002, and directed by Sam Raimi, grossed $403,706,375. Its reboot, "The Amazing Spider-Man," which is directed by Marc Webb and opened July 3, 2012, grossed only $262,030,663. The 2002 "Spider-Man" movie also grossed more during its opening weekend than the reboot. The 2012 "The Amazing Spider-Man" movie grossed $62,004,688 while the 2002 "Spider-Man" grossed $114,844,116.

Although some fans were skeptical about how successful the first movie would be, they are absolutely excited for this one.

"I haven't been more excited for a movie since the first 'Spider-Man' came out 10 years ago," said Michael Rodriguez, 21-year-old senior at Niagara University and avid "Spider-Man" fan. "The effects look crazy. Spider-Man is more Spider-Man than ever!"

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has implemented the "Spider-Man 3" formula by having three different villains: Electro, the Rhino and the Green Goblin. You have to wait until May 2 to see how all three fit into the story, but it appears that Electro is the main villain just as the Sandman was the main villain in the third installment to the original trilogy.

Although "Spider-Man 3" suffered because of its confusing plotline and over-usage of villains, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" seems to have learned from the mistakes of its predecessor.

"The first one was surprisingly good," said Khari Wright, 18. "I'm really looking forward to see how this one tops the old one. They even went back to the original suit."

The new spider suit seems to be a big deal for comic book fans. "The Amazing Spider-Man" had a brand-new, never-before-seen suit featured in its first film. Although the new suit in the second movie is similar to the suit Tobey Maguire donned in the original "Spider-Man" trilogy, the studio has made some slight differences to distinguish Andrew Garfield's suit from Maguire's.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" series follows Peter Parker in his high school years while the 2002 "Spider-Man" started off in Peter's senior year and followed him into adulthood. "The Amazing Spider-Man" series follows a new concept of science called "cross-species." Essentially, DNA from different animals is injected into humans to make them superhuman.

In Raimi's trilogy, Spider-Man was Spider-Man and there was no need to elaborate any further. However, in Webb's version, there is a big secret surrounding the existence of these creatures and even Spider-Man himself. Just like the villains, we have to wait until May 2 to find out.

"The wait is killing me," said Victoria Pascuzzi, a 21-year-old senior at Niagara University and avid "Spider-Man" fan. "You can't top Andrew Garfield in that suit."

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" opens May 2 and you can begin to preorder your tickets today for an early showing on May 1 at participating theaters.
