Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino culinary team to cook Duff's wings to perfection; inclusion of Duff's considered "final piece" of area's top wing providers at festival

Thanks to one of downtown Buffalo's newest hotspots for entertainment, a cherished provider of chicken wings will take part in one of the country's most popular food festivals. Duff's Famous Wings, with support from Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, will make its debut at the National Buffalo Wing Festival, held Aug. 30-31 at Coca-Cola Field in downtown Buffalo.

Duff's Famous Wings is one of the many local food offerings inside Buffalo Savors Grill, the signature restaurant inside Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. The wings, which are available at the restaurant seven days a week, will be served during the National Buffalo Wing Festival at the Duff's Famous Wings food tent, which will be co-located with a food tent by Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. Culinary team members from the casino will be cooking the wings to perfection.

"It's a pleasure for us to help our partner, Duff's Famous Wings, become part of the premier festival to celebrate Buffalo's world-famous food," said Jennifer Caruso, general manager, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. "With our property being located a half-mile from the ballpark and signing on to become a co-sponsor of the festival, we wanted to offer something special for the crowds - and we think Duff's wings will definitely hit the spot."

Wings from Duff's will be one of many items available next to the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino tent during the National Buffalo Wing Festival on Aug. 30-31. The casino will offer another favorite local food item from its Buffalo Savors Grill: beef-on-weck sandwiches from Charlie the Butcher. In addition, the chefs will serve up "wing dings" and Buffalo-style mac and cheese.

"We are thrilled to have Duff's Famous Wings join the National Buffalo Wing Festival, thanks to Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino," said Drew Cerza, founder, National Buffalo Wing Festival. "We have long wanted Duff's - one of the top names in the chicken wing business - to take part, and it was always just a matter of having the staff available for the weekend. Certainly, when you think about the top names for wings in Western New York, you'll always hear places like Anchor Bar, La Nova and Duff's. And now, through the expert chefs at Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, Duff's can participate in our festival. This is certainly one of the 'hottest' additions for us this year, and one that we hope will continue for years to come. Our attendees are going to eat it up."

Now in its 13th year, the National Buffalo Wing Festival has grown into a signature tourism event for the region and a staple on the calendars of food enthusiasts from around the globe. Last year, the two-day event drew more than 80,000 attendees from all 50 states and 34 countries, and gained worldwide coverage. This year's festival will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the "Buffalo wing."

As part of its sponsorship, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, along with Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls, will serve as an exclusive location for pre-sale festival tickets. Pre-sale tickets are available now for $5 and will include a $1 voucher redeemable for food at the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino tent during the festival. Guests may purchase pre-sale tickets with cash, credit card or Seneca Player's Club comp points at BC Café (open 24 hours a day) inside Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino and at two locations inside Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel: Seasons - during retail store hours, and The NewsStand - open 24 hours a day.

In addition to co-sponsoring the festival and serving as an exclusive pre-sale ticket outlet, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino will be the title sponsor for the U.S. Professional Wing Eating Championship, which will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN3 at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31. The casino will also host a meet-and-greet with the competitors on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino also will provide a free shuttle during the festival weekend between its property and the festival site, Coca-Cola Field. It will run continuously during the following times:

•Saturday, Aug. 30 - 12:45 to 9:30 p.m.

•Sunday, Aug. 31 - 12:45 to 7:30 p.m.

As an added bonus, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino asks all festivalgoers to hang on to their ticket stubs. Any attendee who presents a ticket stub at the casino during festival weekend may redeem it for $10 in free slot play. Those who redeem it between Sept. 1 and 7 may redeem it for even more entertainment - $15 in free slot play. The casino is located at the corner of Michigan and Perry streets, about a 10-minute walk from Coca-Cola Field.

The $130 million Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino officially opened on Aug. 27, 2013. The property attracts approximately 3 million annual visitors, with many coming from Pennsylvania, Ohio, other parts of New York, and Southern Ontario. In June, Seneca Gaming Corp. announced a $3 million marketing partnership with Visit Buffalo Niagara to allocate marketing resources for both co-branding opportunities and promoting City of Buffalo tourism attractions to major markets in surrounding states and Southern Ontario.

The casino employs approximately 500 team members, with about half residing in the City of Buffalo.
