Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick has announced that the Grand Island Golden Age Center has received a new van thanks to the 2014 Community Development Block Grant. The grant included $55,000 for a new van, which was delivered by Main Mobility Tuesday, Sept. 2.

"This van is a great benefit to the seniors on Grand Island and will aid the Golden Age Center in its mission to serve the needs of its members. Providing reliable transportation to senior residents is critical to maintaining a high quality of life. Due to its location, there is very limited metro bus service on Grand Island and no taxi service," said Hardwick. "I was pleased to see this important purchase included in the 2014 Community Development Block Grant list."

The van was one of nine CDBG projects announced earlier this year and approved by the legislature.
