Special anniversary show scheduled for Friday, Nov. 14

Seneca Resorts & Casinos will once again host the world's first official and largest awards show for Native American music initiatives, the Native American Music Award, at the Seneca Allegany Events Center Friday, Nov. 14. The Native American Music Awards will celebrate its 15th anniversary year with a lineup of high-energy performances by North America's best Native singers and musicians.

This is the seventh consecutive year the Seneca Resorts & Casinos will host the critically acclaimed awards show, but the first time the program will be held at the Seneca Allegany Events Center. Tickets, $15, go on sale Sept. 15 at noon, and are available at select Seneca Casino retail outlets, www.Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster locations or by phone at 800-745-3000.

Each year, the annual awards program features more than a dozen performances by some of today's leading Native American artists, along with 30 awards categories from every genre of music, including rock, pop, blues, hip-hop, country, new age and unique, distinctly indigenous music genres such as pow wow recording and Native American church music. The awards show is highlighted by special tributes and inductions into the NAMA Hall of Fame, recognition of living legends and the lifetime achievement award. Past inductees and performers at the show have included Robbie Robertson, Crystal Gayle and Nellie Furtado.

This music awards show and its production values have been featured in Billboard Magazine, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Boston Globe and CNN.

Ellen Bello, the founder and president of the Native American Music Awards & Association, has been honoring the outstanding musical achievements of Native American artists from across the country since 1998. More than 200 national recordings are submitted each year in more than 30 categories. Like the BET Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, the American Music Awards, the Grammys and the Latin Grammys, NAMA is dedicated to the raising the consciousness of the mainstream and developing greater appreciation for the genre.

Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino is nestled at the foot of the Allegheny Mountains along the New York/Pennsylvania border and is located off Exit 20 of Interstate 86 near U.S. Route 219. More information is available by calling 1-877-8-SENECA (1-877-873-6322) or visitingwww.SenecaCasinos.com.
