Singer/songwriter Marc Scibilia, a Grand Island native now living and working in Nashville - and signed to Capitol Records' IRS label - is returning to Western New York Friday to perform at Babeville's 9th Ward. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. event. Tickets are $10.

Scibilia is in the final stages of completing his debut LP with the critically acclaimed artist and über-producer Butch Walker (Pink, Fall Out Boy, Gavin DeGraw, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban). Last fall, Scibilia landed the opening slot on Walker's tour. The hit-making producer fell in love-at-first-listen with Scibilia's music.

By January, the two singer-songwriters hit the studio to start recording Scibilia's work. Their collaborations are respectful of their roots, but aggressively aimed at a modern rock/pop legacy for the ears of 2014 and beyond.

John Grady, president of IRS Records, said, "Marc Scibilia has every skill necessary to be a major star. "I can't wait to bring his music to the world."

Scibilia has crafted music that is steeped in his rock, pop and alternative surroundings, while influenced by artists including Paul Simon, Tom Petty, Lauryn Hill and Pharrell.

Following a stop in Buffalo, Scibilia will hit the road this fall to perform in support of his soon-to-be-released LP. Stops include the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas on Oct. 3.

The 9th Ward is located at 341 Delaware Ave.
