Goodwill Industries of Western New York announced remodeling is underway on its Lockport retail store located in the Lockport Plaza at 282 S. Transit Road. The store is temporarily closed as Goodwill staffers complete the project in preparation for a grand re-opening on Thursday. The day will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m.

The remodeled retail store will feature a new layout that includes updated signage and displays that better represent the Goodwill brand. It also includes a DIY station where customers can get tips on giving new life to Goodwill clothing, furniture and home décor finds. The store will feature a "Local Goodness" retail display featuring locally made products for sale. Initially, items from McCullagh Coffee and Platter's Chocolates will be available for purchase. A new layout seeks to increase traffic and efficiency within the store.

"When we set out to remodel our Lockport retail store, we knew we wanted to create a space that better showcased our unique merchandise in a more engaging and modern way," said Lisa Churakos, director of retail and donated goods at Goodwill. "We partnered with Eric Mower & Associates in November of 2013 to complete our first store makeover at our West Seneca store and came up with a fresh and hip retail environment that also communicates the Goodwill story. We recently completed renovations at our Depew location and wanted to create that same shopping experience at our Lockport store."

Based on the success of the redesigned stores, Goodwill plans to bring a new look to its other retail locations throughout Western New York.
