Go gray for elephants at Buffalo Zoo

The Buffalo Zoo invites guests to wear gray in honor of world elephant day. The Buffalo Zoo's August "Zooper Saturday" event had an "elephantastic" theme, and was so well-received the zoo will have additional activities on Tuesday, Aug. 12. Any zoo visitor who wears gray on that day will receive $1 off regular admission.

Special 'World Elephant Day' activities will include:

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Elephant doors open for viewing

11:30 a.m. - Keeper talk and elephant enrichment at the elephant yard

1:30 p.m. - Keeper talk and elephant enrichment at the elephant house

"World Elephant Day," which falls on Aug. 12 of every year, was launched to bring attention to the urgent plight of Asian and African elephants who are at risk due to the escalation of poaching, habitat loss and human-elephant conflict.
