First Niagara and People & Possibilities Inc. partner to provide educational, social and cultural programs for families in need

Bank will provide financial support for "quality of life" programs for all residents living in Niagara Falls Housing Authority communities

The First Niagara Foundation and People & Possibilities Inc., a Niagara Falls Housing Authority organization, are providing educational, cultural, social and recreational "quality of life" programs for people of all ages living in and around Niagara Falls Housing Authority communities. The programs are designed to remove obstacles to success to empower individuals and families to become self-sufficient and aid in the achievement of personal goals.

Classes offered will include after-school tutorial sessions, summer enrichment opportunities, computer classes, financial literacy, job training, and health and wellness initiatives. The First Niagara Foundation is providing a $2,500 grant to fund the programs and help ensure individual success.

"First Niagara is proud to support initiatives that advance and increase self-sufficiency, improve neighborhoods and empower our community," said Elizabeth Gurney, executive director of the First Niagara Foundation. "We're proud to work with People & Possibilities to support local families and help them achieve their full potential."

Stephanie Cowart, executive director of the Niagara Falls Housing Authority, said she is grateful for this generous grant. "We thank First Niagara for their support and embracing the vision of NFHA to empower, enrich and build strong communities. We are honored about the collaboration to make a greater impact in the lives of our residents."

The First Niagara Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable entity. Founded in 1998, the First Niagara Foundation is committed to supporting organizations in the communities in which members live and work, with specific focus on youth and education, community development and neighborhood revitalization.
