Four fun-filled events - including a concert by the Amherst Symphony Orchestra and the extremely popular Scottish Festival - are among the August highlights at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst.

Guests are invited to enjoy the sweet sounds of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. Light snacks and refreshments will be available. The event will take place rain or shine. The concert is free and open to the public, and guests are encouraged to bring picnic baskets, chairs and blankets for their comfort.

The 30th anniversary Scottish Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. Festivities will include highland games, vendors, food and beer, pipers and live performances. Tickets for this special event are $10 for adults, $8 for members and free for children 12 and under.

"Fun with Fibers Summer Camp," a two-day program that will give kids an interactive experience with natural fibers, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 20-21. Children 8 and older are invited to explore where fibers come from, how they are processed and how they are used. Some of the fibers to be explored will include flax, sheep's wool, alpaca and hemp. Children will also get hands-on experience using a drop spindle and loom, and will also learn to felt. An introduction to dying fibers using natural and synthetic dyes will also be provided.

Lunch is not included; please provide a bagged lunch. Space is limited to eight children, and the cost is $85 for members and $100 for non-members.

The next "Museum After Hours" event, held until 9 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month, will take place Aug. 21. This event is free to Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village members and $8 for adults, $6 and seniors and military, and $4 for children 12 and under
