Dunkin' Donuts has announced it will support the efforts to cure muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by collecting donations in its Buffalo-area restaurants to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association's "Make a Muscle, Make a Difference" campaign.

Donations will be collected July 5-13 at participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants throughout the greater Buffalo area. Guests who elect to contribute $1 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association will receive a paper doughnut icon bearing the MDA logo, which may be displayed with the customer's name on the wall of participating restaurants.

Dunkin' Donuts is conducting a similar campaign to support the MDA in all upstate markets, including Albany, Binghamton, Syracuse, Elmira, Rochester, Utica and Watertown. In 2013, Dunkin' Donuts generated $94,734 in partnership with its guests across upstate New York to benefit the MDA.

"Dunkin' Donuts is honored to once again support the critical efforts and innovative programs of the MDA, which works to enhance the lives of people affected by muscular dystrophy and related muscle diseases," said Dunkin' Donuts Field Marketing Manager Alisa LaPlante. "We're honored to utilize our vast network, and the generosity of our guests to help support this outstanding cause. I am confident our loyal guests will be as enthusiastic as ever in raising funds for an organization that is so important to our community."

All contributions generated from the campaign will support the MDA's comprehensive services program for Buffalo-area families, including youth summer camps, medical equipment, clinics and support groups, as well as the association's research efforts to find a cure for neuromuscular diseases.

"We are fortunate to have found such a dedicated community partner in Dunkin' Donuts, and are grateful for the support that Dunkin' Donuts and its franchisees are providing the MDA," said MDA Director of Business Development Sally A. Cramer "Community donations are vital to our work. The generosity of Dunkin' Donuts and its customers will allow us to continue to provide life-enhancing services and programs to thousands of individuals affected by neuromuscular diseases."

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.
