Art, appetizers, sweets and brew are on the menu

The Western New York Artists Group will present "EYES on ART" at its summer reception featuring art, appetizers, sweets and brew. The Aug. 7 event takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the AG Gallery, One Linwood Ave., Buffalo. A selection of original small works of art by WNYAG artists will be available for purchase at $100 each. The happening will feature craft brews from Buffalo's new Resurgence Brewing Co.

During "EYES on ART," the AG Gallery's exhibition on view will showcase watercolors by Marjorie Norton - "Retrospective."

The event aspires to raise both friends and funds for WNYAG. All event proceeds will benefit The Western New York Artists Group. Western New York Artist Group operations are supported, in part, by public funds from the City of Buffalo, Erie County, and by the generosity of its members and the community-at-large.

WNYAG maintains an ardent collaborative working relationship with other area museums and galleries. Its activities include advocacy and promotion of both well-established and emerging local artists; solo, small- and large-group exhibitions (juried and non-juried); art classes; book signings; children's events; and lectures, recitals, presentations and readings from authors and poets. WNYAG continues to play a strategic role in building the area's rich arts community and urban neighborhood surrounding its gallery. It is dedicated to continuing its mission to develop, nourish and support the arts in the region.

Situated on the edge of the footprint of the new Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, event planners said arts organizations are an important catalyst for downtown economic development.

WNYAG is a community-centered, nonprofit 501 (c) (3) arts organization.
