The Town of Lewiston Senior Center, 4361 Lower River Road, Lewiston, announces its July calendar of events and programs, now underway.
The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A hot meal is served 11:45 a.m., Monday through Friday. Reservations must be made one day in advance; call the center at 716-745-2071.
•Monday, July 8 - Border Community Service of Niagara University will present an emergency preparedness presentation at 11 a.m.
Also that day, the Senior Club Picnic will take place at 11:45 a.m. Catering provided by "Mr. Foodie" and a sing-a-long will follow.
•Tuesday, July 9 - Nutrition picnic at 11:45 a.m.
•Wednesday and Thursday, July 9 and 10 - AARP driver safety course, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Call the center to register.
•Tuesday, July 15 - Deputy Robert Richards from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office will visit at 1 p.m.
Other visits that day include Niagara County Office for the Aging representatives and the Lewiston Police Department.
Weekday activities at the center include the following: Monday - mah-jongg at 9 a.m., and line dancing at 10 a.m.; Tuesday - resistance band exercise at 10 a.m., and the Lewiston Senior Club at 11 a.m.; Wednesday - Larks rehearsal at 9:30 a.m., and bingo at 1 p.m.; Thursday - tai chi at 9:30 a.m., woodcarvers at 9:30 a.m., resistance band exercise at 10:30 a.m. and euchre at 12:30 p.m.; Friday - quilting at 9:30 a.m., crafts at 9:30 a.m., line dancing at 10 a.m. and bridge at 12:30 p.m.
The Lewiston Senior Center reports its annual "Walk by the River" health fair will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center. Details to be announced.
