Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, is calling on the Assembly Majority to bring the first nine points of the Women's Equality Act up for a vote as individual bills. He said these nine points are uncontroversial, bipartisan pieces of legislation that were passed almost unanimously in the State Senate. They contain measures to combat sex trafficking, domestic violence and workplace discrimination.

Ceretto is the primary sponsor of one of these bills, which requires equal pay for equal work. He said the Assembly Majority is currently tying passage of these nine points to a controversial, partisan abortion expansion bill that is blocking the entire package. Ceretto issued the following statement:

"As a husband and a father, it is urgent to me that we pass the first nine points of the Women's Equality Act. These points contain critical provisions to protect women from discrimination and abuse. Unfortunately, the Assembly Majority is playing political games by trying to tie these common-sense bills to a controversial measure. They need to put women before their political agenda and pass the first nine, bipartisan points during this last week of session."
