History was made when the first evening cruise in Niagara Falls' history shoved off from the dock at Hornblower Niagara Cruises earlier this month.

For the first time in Niagara Falls' 168-year history of tour boats voyaging to the base of the Horseshoe Falls, visitors to Niagara Falls had the chance to experience the beauty of Niagara Falls during the illumination hours at night.

Since 1846, tour boats have been ferrying passengers to the Horseshoe Falls. In 2012, Hornblower won the exclusive rights to ferry passengers to the falls. Hornblower is now the only company on the Canadian side of the Niagara River permitted to operate boat tours of Niagara Falls.

In addition to the traditional daytime voyage to the falls, the new tour boat company is offering three new cruise options, including:

  • "Sunset Cocktail Cruise" every evening at 8 p.m.
  • "Falls Illumination Cruise" every evening at 9:30 p.m.
  • "Falls Fireworks Cruise" every Friday and Sunday evening at 9:30 p.m.
