The Niagara Tourism & Convention Corp. has announced the dates and details of the 2014 "Get to Know Niagara USA" familiarization tours.

This year's FAM tours will be held on two separate days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tour No. 1, on Thursday, June 12, will include the areas of Lewiston, Youngstown and Olcott. Tour No. 2, on Tuesday, June 17, will include the areas of North Tonawanda and Lockport via motor coach provided by Horizon Club Tours.

The tours will be offered complimentary to all hospitality and tourism workers in Niagara County and will aim to educate employees on all there is to do in Niagara Falls and throughout Niagara County. The tours will give workers an opportunity to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the destination with visitors.

"At the NTCC, we do our part in marketing and selling Niagara USA to potential visitors, but once they are here, it's the job of the people - the employees - that dictate the experience that they have," said Lana Perlman, director of visitor services at the NTCC. "Educating them about our product is just one way to influence that."

Those who participate in Tour No. 1 can expect to visit several attractions, including the Niagara Power Vista, Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, Village of Lewiston, Old Fort Niagara, Olcott Beach Carousel Park and the Winery at Marjim Manor. Those who participate in Tour No. 2 can expect to visit the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, Riviera Theatre and Performing Arts Center, Kenan Center, Lockport Locks & Erie Canal Cruises, Erie Canal Discovery Center, Lockport Cave & Underground Boat Ride and the Flight of Five Winery. All hospitality and tourism workers who are interested and able to attend both tours are welcome.

Both tours will include lunch. Participants will also have the option to experience the Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds at the end of each tour, which will extend the tour time to 7 p.m.

Both tours depart from the Aquarium of Niagara, which offers plenty of parking. A valid driver's license is required to enjoy wine tasting at the Winery at Marjim Manor and the Flight of Five Winery.

For additional information or to register for the FAM tour, contact Perlman at 716-282-8992, ext. 326, or [email protected].
