Ransomville Speedway announced the cancellation of its season-opening program, which was scheduled for tonight, due to the heavy amounts of rain that fell through the middle of the week. Big R reported the speedway grounds are simply too saturated, forcing officials to cancel the 57th season opener.

"We really held out hope that a miracle would happen overnight and we would arrive at the track to much better conditions than when we left Thursday night," said public relations director Tana Robinson. "Unfortunately, that was not the case as the parking lot and pit area remained saturated with standing water still in many places. No one is more disappointed than we are when we have to cancel.

"Hopefully Mother Nature will become a fan and cooperate the rest of the season."

The $2000 to WIN Finditquick.com Modified special has been moved to Friday, May 9. A full card of Investors Services Sportsman, Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Van Raine Construction Novice Sportsman, and Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers are also slated. Gates will open at 5 p.m. in the pits and 6 p.m. in the grandstands with racing slated for 7:15 pm. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens, $6 for kids ages 8-12 and free for those under the age of 8. Pit admission is $22 for members and $27 for non-members.

Special events will continue the following week, May 16, when Investors Services presents the Tri-Track Sportsman Series plus a 30-lap special for the Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks. A full card of FinditQuick.com Modifieds, Van Raine Construction Novice Sportsman, and Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers is also slated. On Friday, May 23, the Modified Tri-Track Series will take center stage, as $3,000 is on the line for the 50-lap special. A full card will be featured.
