Republic Services will deliver new covered, wheeled recycling carts to each Grand Island household later this spring. The 95-gallon container, similar to the one pictured, was chosen to encourage greater recycling by Grand Island residents and to prevent recyclables from blowing through neighborhoods on windy days.
The items that can be recycled will be heat-stamped on the lid of the cart for easy identification. The company will inventory each cart with a bar code connected to an address.
The cart is owned by Republic Services and remains with the house if the resident moves. Carts will be blue with green lids and the information heat stamped on the lid appears in the photo. (photo by Larry Austin)
