Buffalo dry cleaner Colvin Cleaners will have more than 4,000 dresses at 2014 "Gowns 4 Prom" event

This week, Colvin Cleaners, Western New York's "green" dry cleaner, will ramp up its efforts to celebrate "Gowns 4 Prom." The ninth annual charity event will be held 3-7 p.m. April 21-23 on stage at Shea's in downtown Buffalo. This year, with the help of Goodwill, TT New York, Continental Hair School, Boulevard Mall and Walden Galleria Mall, Colvin Cleaners has collected more than 4,000 donations of gently used gowns for girls in need to pick up for free during "Gowns 4 Prom."

This year will mark the highest number of dresses given out in the history of "Gowns 4 Prom." Over the past eight years, "Gowns 4 Prom" has given out more than 5,000 dresses. Colvin Cleaners expects to give out 1,000 this year alone. Young ladies in need from all over Western New York are invited to come and select a prom gown. Then, the alterations team at the event will fit gowns after the girls have chosen their dream dress.

A schedule for Buffalo schools has been posted to Colvin Cleaner's Facebook page to let parents know when the best time is to bring their child. Also note, the young ladies should enter Shea's via the Pearl Street stage entrance.

Paul Billoni, owner and president of Colvin Cleaners, said he is excited to be a part of "Gowns 4 Prom" 2014. He said, "We had no idea when we started it that 'Gowns 4 Prom' would grow this big. With the help from the Buffalo community, we have been able to collect more dresses than ever. We believe that all young women should be able to go to prom, whether they can afford a gown or not. This amazing program ensures that they will."
