The 914th Airlift Wing is honoring important members of military families across the state on Tuesday.

As April is designated the Month of the Military Child, the International Peace Bridge between the U.S. and Canada is slated to be lit purple the night of Military Child Day, April 15.

Purple represents all branches of the U.S. Military, from Army green, Marine Corps red, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard blue.

"Here in Western New York, we are represented by all the military branches, and the Peace Bridge Authority has approved the 914th Airlift Wing's request to 'Purple-Up' on April 15, in support of Month of the Military Child," said Meg Calero, director of 914th Airlift Wing Airman and Family Readiness. "Our Canadian partners have served in past and recent conflicts around the world with U.S. Forces, and their children have given the same level of commitment and sacrifice. The bridge, lit in purple, represents all of our military children. "
