Lewiston Dems seek candidates

The Lewiston Democratic Committee is now seeking interested candidates for the Town of Lewiston offices of town council member and town clerk.

Persons interested in running for either position should contact chair Diane Perri Roberts at [email protected] or by mail at Lewiston Democratic Committee, PO Box 155, Lewiston, NY 14092 on or before April 21.

A caucus to nominate candidates for the Village of Lewiston will take place Tuesday, April 22, at the Cornerstone Credit Union community meeting room (Rite-Aid plaza) on Center Street beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The caucus is for the selection of four village trustee candidates (including mayor). Those selected will run for office in the June 17 election.

Two trustee positions are for four years. One is for two years (the remainder of former Trustee Dennis Brochey's term). The mayor will serve four years.

Only registered Democrats who reside in the Village of Lewiston are eligible to nominate and vote for candidates at the caucus. Candidates selected must reside in the Village of Lewiston.

Those wishing to nominate or vote at the caucus are asked to bring photo identification.

Niagara County Democratic Chairman Nicholas Forster has appointed Elizabeth Diachun, a resident of the Village of Lewiston, as chairwoman of the caucus. Any questions concerning the caucus may be directed to Diachun at 716-754-2830.
