Be a pampered princess in a "castle" on Saturday, April 12, as the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas hosts the Tonawandas' Women's Expo & Boutique at the landmark Tonawanda Castle, 69 Delaware St., in Tonawanda.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the day will be filled with shopping, fashion shows, wine tasting, product and service demos, spa pampering, cooking demos, pet care information, mini-seminars and more. The first 200 people to enter will receive gift bags. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, plus one lucky person will win a spa day and a $100 Visa gift card.
"It's a 'do not miss,' because we only hold it every other year," said Joyce Santiago, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas. "I've had people (who attended previous expos) tell me they can't wait for this year."
This will be the third year for the expo. Usually more than 1,000 women attend, plus a few men.
"It grows every time we do it," said Santiago, who is expecting about 100 vendors to participate this year. "People have fun all day long ... the last time we did this, a lot of people ended up staying all day, because there is so much to do."
Stop at one of the cooking demonstrations presented by Webster's Bistro of North Tonawanda throughout the day or visit the "spa room" organized by Custom Beaute of Tonawanda for skin analysis, massages and demonstrations. Learn about growing and using herbs. Watch a medium do a gallery reading. Food and cocktails will be available.
"There truly is a lot to see and do," said Santiago. "It's a great way to experience the Castle. It's a beautiful setting."
Handicapped access is available at the rear of the Tonawanda Castle and there is plenty of marked parking outside and seating areas inside the building.
Tickets are $5, with those under age 17 admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door, but avoid waiting in line with advance tickets available at Budwey's Supermarket in North Tonawanda, the Chamber of Commerce office at 15 Webster St. in North Tonawanda, online at www.tonawandaswomensexpo.com (the site also has all of the event details), or by calling 716-692-5120.
