National Association of Distinguished Professionals selects Dave Reed as Honored Member

Dave Reed, vice president of operations at Trans American Customs and Logistics, has been selected as an Honored Member of the National Association of Distinguished Professionals. The selection recognizes his commitment to excellence in customs, logistics and consulting.

Reed, who holds a certified customs specialist designation and is a licensed U.S. Customs broker through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the past 20 years, started his career in the customs brokerage industry in 1994 in an entry-level position.

Now the vice president of operations for his firm, Reed oversees U.S., Canadian, and Mexico customs business units, IT and accounting with 25 direct reports. He is responsible for company P&L, corporate governance, project management, and short- and long-term strategic business planning. As a big proponent of continuous improvement, Reed logs many hours of training in areas of customs import/export, Microsoft tools, project management, as well as coaching and leadership skills.

"Keeping our clients protected from ever-changing government regulations so they can concentrate on their business and keeping trade with the U.S. strong has always been a motivator for me," Reed said. "My inspiration to reach my professional goals, however, started off like many, to provide a stable life for my wife and two children. Reed is a member of the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of American for the past 11 years. He also volunteers his time by coaching his son's baseball team, for which he won a Citizen of the Year Award from the Town of Lewiston.
