The University at Buffalo will host a Commercialization Lecture Series event on March 6 to introduce startups and entrepreneurs to Buffalo's $5 million business plan competition, 43North.

Speaking at UB's New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, 43North Executive Director Andrew Pulkrabek will discuss the $5 million in cash prizes - including a top prize of $1 million - that will be awarded to entrepreneurs, startups and teams from around the world.

43North is one of the world's largest business idea competitions. Open to applicants in any industry, with the exception of retail and hospitality, the winners agree to operate their business in Buffalo for a minimum of one year. This initiative is part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's historic pledge of $1 billion in state funding to ignite economic growth in the Buffalo Niagara region.

The lecture takes place from 4-5 p.m. on Thursday at UB's New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, 701 Ellicott St., Buffalo. To register for this free event, visit 43north.eventbrite.com.
