Free health screenings will be the order of the day on Saturday, March 1, when Memorial Medical Center wraps up American Heart Month with "Heart Smart: A Free Wellness and Education Event."
Sponsored by Buffalo Heart Group LLP, the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Memorial's Heart Center of Niagara on Walnut Avenue at 10th Street.
The featured lunchtime speaker will be clinical cardiologist Sachin Wadhawan, M.D. His topic will be "Let's Have a Heart to Heart - Heart Disease Awareness."
"Heart Smart" will offer several types of free health screenings, including ejection fraction, which measures how efficiently blood is pumped out of the heart; EKGs; carotid Doppler readings to measure blood flow velocity; blood pressure testing; body mass index screening; and carbon monoxide testing.
Interactive informational health and wellness exhibits also will be featured.
