The Niagara County Department of Health will offer a free diabetes prevention program at the Dale Association beginning Jan. 23. This is an evidence based, 16-week program, designed to help participants reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes.

The classes are one hour in length and will run for 16 consecutive Thursdays. These sessions are followed by a group of six-eight monthly sessions designed to offer additional support and help in maintaining lifestyle changes. The class will help participants improve food choices, increase physical activity and learn coping skills to maintain weight loss and healthy lifestyle changes.

If you are over 18 years of age and have been told by your physician that you are pre-diabetic, or have questions about whether you might qualify for this workshop, call 716-278-1900 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for more information or to register for the class.
