Civil War field music comes to Lewiston

The Union Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps will perform at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, corner of South Fifth and Cayuga streets. The event is free and open to the public.

Based in Buffalo, The Union Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps was formed in 2009 and is a historically authentic musical group specializing in the martial field music of the Civil War.

Attendees will hear the sounds of the fife and the deep rumble of the drum. The colorful performance showcases the splendidly attired uniforms of northern Union musicians performing on beautiful replica period instruments.

The Union Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps perform and discuss the various musical tunes and commands that directed every aspect of the war.
