Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Jan. 9, 2014

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police Department between Sunday, Dec. 29, and Monday, Jan. 6. A total of 192 calls were answered during that time period.

Sunday, Dec. 29

•Drug charge, Garlow Road at Colonial Drive. Two young males were issued appearance tickets for unlawful possession of marijuana after a traffic stop.

•EMS call, 9100 block of Lockport Road. Patrol and Rural Metro Ambulance responded for a medical alarm. Resident stated everything was fine and it was an accidental press.

•Hit and run accident, 2500 block of Military Road. A Lewiston woman leaving a business reported she found her vehicle damaged in the parking lot. Damage was observed to the front driver side bumper, rear view mirror, door and front and rear quarter panel.

•Assist citizen, 4000 block of Seneca Parkway. Homeowner reported that while sitting in her living room she heard something hit her window that shattered the outer pane of glass.

•Driving while intoxicated, Porter Road. A 35-year-old North Avenue man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after patrol observed his vehicle crossing the center line and the fog line several times. The man, who failed sobriety tests, said he only had four beers while watching a Buffalo Bills game at a bar.

•Aid assist, 6700 block of Williams Road. Patrol assisted State Police with an armed robbery at a business.

Monday, Dec. 30

•EMS, 4600 block of Miller Road. Resident fell off toilet and struck head.

•Larceny, 7600 block of East Britton Road. Victim reported someone entered his unlocked car in his driveway overnight and took two cartons of cigarettes and about $5 in change.

•Vandalism, 2100 block of Roberts Drive. Resident reported someone threw eggs at her vehicle overnight, and this was the second time it had happened.

•Arrest, Blank Road. A 20-year-old Ontario Avenue man was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance and three vehicle and traffic charges after patrol found him walking in the area where a car believed involved in two hit and run accidents was parked.

•Larceny, 1600 block of Military Road. Two local residents reported thefts from their vehicles in the parking lot while inside a business.

Tuesday, Dec. 31

•Aid assist, Porter-Packard Road. Patrol assisted State Police with a hit and run accident. Driver struck another vehicle at Niagara Falls Boulevard and a guardrail underneath the overpass on Packard Road. Vehicle and driver were located in the 3100 block of Woodland Avenue.

•Noise complaint, 5000 block of Tuscarora Road. Loud party; occupant advised.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

•Traffic tickets and problems, Packard Road, Military Road, Hyde Park Boulevard, Witmer Road and I-190. Patrols dealt with four incidents including tickets issued for no passenger side headlight and speeding as well as incidents involving vehicles sliding on snowy roads.

Thursday, Jan. 2

•EMS, 5900 block of Edgewood Drive. Patrols assisted Rural Metro with male having cardiac problem.

•Shoplifting, 2500 block of Military Road. A 25-year-old male was arrested for attempting to shoplift a laser radar detector valued at $49.99.

•Accidents, Saunders Settlement Road, Porter Road and Lockport Road. Patrols investigated four reports of vehicles sliding off the road or striking other vehicles due to snowy conditions.

Friday, Jan. 3

•Suspicious person, Crestview Drive. Patrol located a male dressed all in black walking down Crestview. When asked what he was doing out at 1 a.m. in poor weather conditions, the man stated he was running.

•Disabled vehicle, Tuscarora Road south of Lockport Road. Patrol located a vehicle in a ditch. Driver said her GPS took her the wrong way.

•Harassment, 2400 block of Military Road. A Haeberle Avenue woman reported that while she was shopping at a business a man she knows who has been harassing her and possibly stalking her entered the store and started yelling at her.

•EMS, 2400 block of Military Road. Patrol responded for a 30-year-old female passed out in the gym area. She was transported by Rural Metro.

•EMS, 7700 block of Third Avenue. Patrol assisted Rural Metro and Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Co. with a 71-year-old male having trouble breathing.

•Aid assist, 8800 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. Patrols assisted Niagara Falls Police with an armed robbery.

Saturday, Jan. 4

•Juvenile problem, D Street. Patrols were called to Cayuga Village on a report of juveniles shooting paintballs at a vehicle and at a new trailer. Juveniles located and cleaned all affected areas.

•Animal complaint, Steele Circle. Woman returning from walking her beagle reported a yellow lab mix came on her property and attacked her dog. Patrol checked license and vaccination records.

Sunday, Jan. 5

•Shoplifting, 2500 block of Military Road. A 23-year-old Porter Road male was arrested for taking two pairs of socks, a pair of boxers, jeans, shirt, body wash and a pair of shoes at a business.

•Aid assist, 4200 block of Isherwood Drive. Patrols responded to assist State Police on a report of two males walking down Isherwood with a long gun. Upon arrival, State Police had two 12-year-old males detained, who said they were coming back from rabbit hunting.

Monday, Jan. 6

•Larceny, 1900 Military Road. Kiosk business reported someone had removed $150 and a tablet from the business overnight.

•EMS, 1900 block of Juron Drive. An 84-year-old woman was reported having trouble breathing.

•Noise complaint, 1300 block of Elderberry Place. Patrol responded twice on a complaint that an intoxicated resident was playing his music too loud. Ongoing problem.
