'The Biggest Loser' launches Google+ Hangout series, Pinterest partnership giving fans exclusive digital content, expert advice

The extended digital experience begins today and features "The Biggest Loser" talent and experts, including trainer Dolvett Quince, season 14 winner Danni Allen and chef Devin Alexander

NBC and Shine America are launching two unique partnerships with Pinterest and Google+ to promote "The Biggest Loser" (Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET) with exclusive digital content and expert advice based in fitness, food and lifestyle, beginning today and continuing through the series' live season finale Tuesday, Feb. 4. "The Biggest Loser" is the first television series to do an interactive health and fitness series using the Google+ technology.

The announcement was made today by NBC, Shine America, Google+ and Pinterest.

"Being able to connect with viewers both on-and-off air allows 'The Biggest Loser' to create an immersive experience and share a wealth of information to help improve the lives of our viewers," said Vivi Zigler, president, Shine 360°, Shine America. "Pinterest and Google+ provide the show's team of experts ideal platforms to share valuable health and fitness knowledge with fans."

In the first-of-its-kind five-week Google+ Hangout series, fans selected from social media will get unprecedented access to "The Biggest Loser" talent and experts, including trainer Dolvett Quince, season 14 winner Danni Allen, Dr. Robert Huizenga and others.

Each Hangout will focus on lifestyle themes addressed in the hit NBC series and provide health and fitness advice to maintain success beyond one's New Year's resolution. All Hangouts will be moderated by YouTube personality Sarah Fit and will take place Wednesdays at 6 pm ET with the final hangout on Feb. 5, the day after the live finale. Hangouts are available for live viewing at https://plus.google.com/+biggestloser/posts and for viewing on demand after the live stream on Google+ and YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/nbcbiggestloser.

Building on the success of "The Biggest Loser" season 14 partnership, Pinterest returns in season 15 with new derivative content for a visual way for people to plan their future. During the Jan. 14, 21 and 28 broadcasts of "The Biggest Loser," viewers can visit the show's official Pinterest page to see exclusive, detailed step-by-step recipes highlighting themes from that night's episode. The recipes, demonstrated by "The Biggest Loser Cookbook" chef Devin Alexander, provide viewers with healthy, quick-and-easy meals to stay on track and eat well.
