The It Happened to Alexa Foundation recently held a poster contest for students of Mr. Antonelli's eighth-grade class at Lewiston-Porter Middle School. In response to the statistics that one in three school-age students are victims of dating abuse, students completed a 10-session program presented by Alexa Foundation Educational Outreach Director Sandra Lahrache.

Students were also provided information to help them understand a healthy versus unhealthy relationship, warning signs of physical or emotional abuse, dangers in social media, and how to control their own anger. All students received information on who and where they can turn to for help or advice.

Winners of the poster contest received gift cards from The Lewiston Event Center. Pictured, from left, are: Mike Antonelli, Madi Dunn, Adriana Bolender, Marissa Karp, Gabby Whitehead and Lahrache.
